Pocket Queries

Post by sneakpeekers »

We have been getting pocket queries for some time now with no problem. However, the last two did not update all the caches - just some of them (our list is supposed to be only those we have not found - within a certain radius, etc.). :( We use GSAK and I recently added their latest and greatest version. Could that be the problem? If anyone can help me out it would be appreciated. If you think it is a GSAK problem, I'll write to them. Thanks, Mrs. Sneakpeeker

Do you still have the pocket queries? Ifso, if you email me one of them I'll tear it apart and see what is going on.

Also what do you mean by "the last two did not update all the caches - just some of them". What exactly was wrong.

Not sure if he means this, but it seems that it takes several days for the pocket queries to update found caches. Had it happen the last time I entered a bunch that I had found. Did a pocket query 2 days later, and it still had those as not found. The next day, it had them right, but for at least 2 days, my finds did not show up in the pocket queries, even though it did show on the site that I had logged them as found.

Every once in awhile I delete the waypoints in the GSAK database for a certain area I have and then just reload the GPX files.

Thanks for the notes. When you look at GSAK on the split screen it shows the date that the cache you are looking at was updated. Usually, they all say the same date (which is the date of our pocket query request). Some of the caches the last two times (we get a pocket query update each week) did not update - the date listed is still from the previous week or two. Flooder - if I'm still having the problem with my next query, I'll send it to you then.

Ok, I'm still having trouble. For some reason, even though we asked the query to send us only caches we have not found, it is still sending ones we've logged as found. (I've been under the weather and haven't gotten back to ask more questions. Flooder, I saw you at this past Tuesday's Meet & Eat but didn't get a chance to talk with you. :(

And I'm not sure how to send you my query so you can take a look.

When I update my queries, I have the box check so it will delete the waypoints.

I have a suspicion that the caches that did not update may have been archived since that last PQ. Could this be the case?

I looked at the file you sent me and the only cache that was in there that you have found was the Meet and Eat. The reason it was there is that you logged a "Find" for the cache after the query ran.

Maybe we can sit down and look at GSAK sometime. I hope to make more Meet & Eats in Maumee.

One thing to try would be to add "My Finds" to your queries. You can find it on the bottom of the page you set up the queries. You can run this once a week.

Thanks for checking it out Flooder. I think from your note that you hit the nail on the head! When my husband puts the latest query on to Cachemate, it is indeed the right query without any that we have already found. I do believe the problem is with our GSAK. And, now that I think about it, I think we began having this problem after I downloaded the most recent version of it.

Hopefully we will get the opportunity to talk about it at a Meet & Eat so I can maybe see a visual of things??!! One last question - do we really need GSAK along with cachemate for paperless caching?

c-ya,

I've never even looked at GSAK, don't know how it works, I've done all my paperless caching with Cachemate alone. :)

Thanks for telling me that - perhaps I won't worry about trying to rectify my GSAK problems.

Hey, How do you get your stats box to appear with your 'posts'?

I have always treated the Palm brand like I do Apple (OK I used a IIe). I have always advoided it like the USSR.

So I don't know anything about cachemate. If you can get by with out GSAK then by all means do that. I find GSAK indispensable for dealing with caches away from home. I use it to interat with my mapping programs and to send coords to my GPS.
