Web Ring
Is anyone else having trouble with a site called Web Ring? This site takes over our site and redirects you to their site. You can't get out of it and you have to close IE. It's only happened to me during the day, but it has happened often in the last month. I can't believe I'm the only one having this problem.

This appears to be the site at the bottom of these pages. I've never used it or had a problem with it. Sounds like an issue for the webmeister.

No webmeister needed.
Web Ring is a "ring" of related web sites. In this case geocaching. You click Next and co to the next related site.
To "get out" Type an address in the address bar or go to one of your Favorites of your home page.

Re: Web Ring
Well, I can be reading a forum, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and petting Judson with the other , not any where near the key board, and that site comes up. You can click the back arrow and before our site even finishes coming back, the frickin web ring comes back. This shouldn't happen and closing IE (I have't tried favorites ) shouldn't be necessary. Somehow this program has invaded out site.Mighty_Mo wrote:No webmeister needed.

Re: Web Ring
I had to play around about 5 minutes to get onto this site. Same as others, it immediately went to the web ring page when I tried to access this page. I deleted the temporary internet files and the history files, and now all seems to be fine again.

Re: Web Ring
I have temporarily disabled the WebRing until issues with it can be resolved.
The WebRing is a Java Script that makes calls to their website, so it is possible something malicious has happened at their site that is causing this problem.
For everyone who experienced problems, I would suggest making sure that your anti-virus is up to date and has ran recently, just to be safe.
For anyone interested, here is the WebRing code we use:

Re: Web Ring
I updated and ran my anti-virus(Norton) right after I had the problem, and it did not show up anything.

Re: Web Ring
Thanks Gizmo.
I delete my internet settings every day. Just about every option the IE tools will let you delete. I also run AVG everyday. I hope your fix works.

Re: Web Ring
Does anybody actually utilize the webring anymore? I'd consider dumping it permanently.
