Must-see hides

Post by BlackBrownDog »

I was emailed by a cacher from Cleveland, Suzy Jazz about any "must see" Toledo area caches. I made a list for her, which shall be revealed later.

What are YOUR "can't misses"??? Why do you love that hide?

I was thinking we could make a NWOGEO bookmark list of these. We could put WHO put it on the list, and why they think it's great.

We happen to enjoy Edward Drummond Libbey. It is such a great view inside the heart of toledo. It was one of the most scenic places we never new existed here. It is fairly easy for most, but one our our most memorable ones.

Roche de Bouf Rock

Although it can't be reached at all times I really liked it because: 1. Walking through the shallow rapids gets you an up close, personal and mostly safe encounter with the Maumee River. 2. Depending on how you approach the final you may have some fun climbing around on the Roche. 3. It's known that a hissing snake guards the cache which heightens your alertness. 4. The historical significance. 5. The great views.

On a nice, sunny, low water day this cache can fill up your senses for awhile.

I'll throw another one into the pot.

It Ain't Kentucky Bluegrass

Not easily available at times but in my opinion a great hunt. Dependent on water levels, you may have to do some wading to get out on this nature island in the Maumee River. Once on the island I found the flora and fauna to be outstanding. It was easy to forget where I actually was and images of far off places came to mind. Locating the correct path was interesting, bushwacking at times was physical and bug spray was necessary. Overall, a cool geocaching experience.

This is the one I was going to put in. So I'm just seconding the BC nomination

The Laten Islander Heads East

This one was definitely a cool one. You need to be creative or you will end up in the drink.
