Re: NWOGEO 9TH YR ADOPT-A-HWY/CITO EVENTS 2012
The new 24 is really nice. It saves me 6 minutes going to Maumee from GR and a lot of headaches not having to stop for school buses or dodging trucks. It's also much easier on the "old 24" if you want to still go that way. The highway is almost deserted. The road signs at the new/old junction of 24, near Fallen Timbers (heading west) show 24 merging left over the new overpass and the old 24 being called Lucas County Rd. 53. I didn't know Lucas had county road numbers. It seems it would have been best to just leave it as Anthony Wayne Trail West or something. I don't know what they are calling it in Henry Co. of Williams if you want to still go to Ft. Wayne on the old road. I bet my Garmin will screw it up for years.
The amount of trash should be greatly reduced, but I hope we are not considering changing our pick-up to the new road. It is getting really busy and the speed limit is 65. Too fast for me to be doing trash pickup without a state warning truck following us.

I made a couple trips to Maumee using the new and old 24. If time is the factor the new would better but I enjoy the scenic view more.GoodDog wrote:The new 24 is really nice. Thanks for all the new info. Gizmo
The new route number for the GR bridge and that short section of old 24 makes a lot of sense. You can now tell someone to get off at the 295 exit and just follow the route to GR.
