I am suggesting anyone that has caches hidden within about 15 miles of Geobash that you archive them close to Bash time and simply have them re-hidden in their general areas. I know that ALL of them cannot be done but the ones along the WCT and a lot of cemeteries it can be done and perhaps even a few parks. I think that would be well received by Bash attendees.
Not in a million years would I go through the trouble of doing that.

Well then I hope nobody complains about NOT having any caches to do while at bash. It wasn't an idea about getting numbers it was about returning visitors actually having something more to do than just hang out at the fairgrounds for 3 days. I am not a camper and cannot stand being in one place for a very long period of time and I know I am not alone so I was simply thinking about others like myself.

Is it, or is it not, about the numbers?
If it is NOT about numbers then lets throw away the 500 banner, forget about the golden ammo can award, who cares about milestones.....so, you tell me....is it about numbers or not? The non numbers variety of this game is waymarking so why doesn't hardly anyone do those? I did 3 last week, 2 were 2 years old and I was the first to log them......hmmmmmmmm
I actually considered archiving and re-hiding SOME of mine. Only the simple P&G's that have no time invested it. There is no way I would do that with all of my caches though.
I simply suggested that we as a WHOLE consider doing that to SOME.....not all. I wouldn't want to do it to all mine either but would at least remain open minded enough to consider it.

I am always looking for property...
I think I know where you are talking about.
My closest one is in Aetna cemetery to the northeast of the fairgrounds. I've got no problem opening that one up for a new cache. I'm with t on this. Yes, I do love the place caching has taken me to, but let's be honest. It would be the rare cacher indeed that never paid any attention to the numbers. Why post as a find, just post as a note to let the owner know your impressions. That way you could completely stay away from the numbers.
As a matter of fact I kind of hope that the Midwest Geobash finds another part of the midwest next year (no offense to all the hard work of Pete & Sonya and all the rest) because I'd like to both see another area AND get a few more for the numbers.

methinks that the Detroit area puts geocaching sport first and foremost, putting on the BEST for the event...
NWOGEO in my humble opinion, for a midwest bash, perhaps should be offering something NEW ( temp or otherwise) for returning attendees to the same area...
T hunter -this is well worth discussing... thanks for the insight...
Here's some interesting numbers we threw together waiting for our stove to heat up. Some of the hits our caches had during the GeoBash.
5 miles west - Short Brunettes - 52 finds
5 miles east - Mina's Dog Toy cache - 38 finds
In town- Wauseon Nature Trail - 203 finds
Geobash attendance logs - 638
Hardly 10% of the attendees dealt much with the WCT caches.
A good third of the bashers did the ones in town.
In other words, 90% didn't even bother with the trail caches.
And 2/3rds of the attendees did not even cache in town.
Over 200 didn't even find the caches hidden on the fairgrounds.
So maybe we could see freshening up some caches in the city, but that'd be about it.
To expand on TeamMina numbers, my two park and grabs within a stones throw of a poker run stop(in Wauseon) each had about 350 finds. Get off of the poker run route, and a park and grab drops to 250.
