As an FYI, I'll be updating forums soon - possibly this weekend. We'll likely lose some of the customizations we're running unless I can replicate them, but it shouldn't be that bad.

I like some of the options on the upgraded forums (MCP, ACP links are right there if you are an administrator), but I had to hunt around to find the View Unread Posts options. I think someone coming in new won't have a problems, but we'll probably hear from current users that it's a little user un-friendly.
Looks slicker & more modern, though.

I can set the "base" page to be the portal like it is here - that's where I always find the unread posts link.
Would that help?
