Who uses something different than the new geocaching.com app on an iphone, and what app do you like? I have a friend that wants to get into caching, and is running into problems with the new app from geocaching.com...

Both PBZ and I use Geosphere, and we both really like it. I think I've seen people use GeoBucket & they have had good things to say about that, too.

I don't have a smartphone, but the geocaching podcasts I listen to often mention two apps as being great. C:GEO and Cachly. I am not sure if both work on the IPhone platform.

Cachly is available for iOS.

c:geo is Android only. The good news there is that it is open source so if you are ambitious enough you can fork the project and port its 50k lines of code over to iOS.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think she found Geosphere, and seemed to like it. Geocaching.com is really restricting what some apps can look at, with Cachly only being allowed three caches per day to be logged. This is for non-premium members. Premium members seem to have the full range of features available.

GC.com puts a 6 month or 1 year expiration (can't remember which) on the api token that is used by geosphere. When it stops working (it will probably complain about an invalid token), go to settings and unlink and relink you gc.com account.

I am going to help out with the Metroparks Outdoor Expo again this year (May 21) and when I did it two years ago, someone asked what app they should install. I recommended the Geocaching intro app at the time. However, I am not sure I am comfortable recommending the current GC.com app right now. So, I want to have a list handy for my reference. To sum up this thread so far.
Iphone: Cachly or Geosphere
Android: c:geo
Any good app for the rare Windows phone?
Others?

Recommendations for WinPhone:
1 - save money and go to a flip phone
2 - upgrade to iPhone or Android
