Just saw this. Detroit's emergency manager has signed a lease on Belle Isle to Michigan DNR for 30 years. Plans include the state investing $10-$20 million in the first 3 years of their lease.
As a state park, it will cost $11 to take your car over if you have not bought the state park pass for the year yet.

The $11 is an annual pass for Michigan residents,
Out of state residents annual fee is $30.50 or you can pay $8.40 for a non-resident one day pass. Been there, done that.

I heard about the possibility of this several months ago. I wonder how that will affect the Geo-event there in the spring.

I basically grew up there. Can't imagine having to spend money to go across the bridge now.
At LeAST they can possibly hire to people to clean up the trash now.
