Re: Must do caches in Northwest USA
We were in Seattle and my brother, vanbee, lives there and caches. Feel free to message him via GC.com. I like these in particular:
Groundspeak HQ: GCK25B
Double Bubble Toil and Trouble (at Pike Market in Seattle): GC24H25
Next time we're on the West Coast we hope to get the original Stash in Oregon: GCGV0P
Also check out this GC forum post on "Seattle Must Gets" I started last summer: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index. ... try5062939

Oregon:
East of Portland - Historic US-30 in Oregon tons of nice waterfalls on a short stretch, largest is Multnomah Falls (GC14VG2)
Around Astoria - GC1BEN3 - next to WWII Bunkers on hills of oregon coast; GC15A3D - Sight of WWII shelling location in Oregon from Japanese sub; GC1WAY4 - Cool laser pointer multi-cache; There is also a park across the river, which marks the site of the end of the Lewis and Clark journey (No cache at the moment, archived one is GC9672)
GC12 and the original stash are nice stops too.
Idaho:
Pocatello - GC5C - Old cache with a great view
Wyoming:
Little America - GCM9KK (Nice roadside stop with a taxidermed penguin and 50 cent self-serve soft serve cones.
Where in California / Nevada are you going to be in?

Don't know your route through Nevada, but I would highly recommend caches by "Patron and Mrs."

Utah:
Salt Lake City is a virtual mecca, but my favorite I did out there was a little north of SLC.
GC6FD7 - The Golden Spike

We didn't do too much in Wyoming, but this one was a destination.
Not often is there a tribute to an NWO geocacher so far away:

If the tunnel is open, the cache that used to be the APE is a must visit - along with the associated ones up there.

We did to Mission 9, the tribute cache to the Ape cache & some of the ones up there. We didn't go through the tunnel, however. We took the more direct (read bushwhacked some of it) way as it was shorter. It was an awesome cache, no matter how you get there!
