Busy Day (Cache Icon) Run - Friday, July 27

Post by allenite »

I've been toying around this for a bit and am thinking I have a plan for Friday's caching day. I figured I could take a couple of passengers if there was an interest.

After the flash mob (event) on Friday morning, I plan to head to Dayton for the Adventure Maze grabbing some virtuals and wherigos on the way. On the return trip, I hope to make a stop by Delaware to grab the webcam there. Along the way pick up a few more varieties as well. The hope by the end of the day is to have:

Mega
Event
Virtual
Wherigo
GPS Maze
Webcam
Traditional
Unknown
Multi
Letterbox
Earth

This would be a total of 11 icons (cache types) for the day.

That sounds like a day of great accomplishment, but unfortunately we have a full plate as well. Have fun and have a safe day!

Scuba & I did this a couple years ago, but unfortunately there was no mega event that day :( We did get all other icons (including a CITO!) and did all different sizes of traditionals. It was so much fun and very challenging! You think, oh 16 caches? No biggie. It took us from CITO at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to pick up the LAST nano.
Good luck!!!

MY plate is empty as is my day. I have the day off work. Sounds like a good challenge to me.

It sounds like fun, but I have found most of the caches you are planning on getting. :(

Sounds good, I might have two from Michigan that are going, trying to get a commitment one way or another out of them. I may bring the Suburban if interest permits.

So, I have a short list wrote up with a few more in between if time is good.

[MEGA] MWGB
[Event] Stonewaall's Flash Mob
[Wherigo] GC29GDF, GC1T8AY (Miami County Fairgrounds)
[Earth #1] GC21768
[Maze] GC3HWVM
[Letterbox] GC3HZCA and [Multi] GC3HZB4 (On grounds of the museum)
[Virtual] GCBF60 and [Earth #2] GC1DG3C (Downtown Dayton)
[Traditional] GCVZ03 (Cemetery east of Dayton)
[Unknown] GC37HF9 (Puzzle Challenge)
[Virtual #2] GCH6E1 (Cemetery)
[Webcam] GCGMQV (Delaware, OH) & [Earth #3] GC1BTB4
[Virtual #3] GCGD00 (Marion, OH)

I have a few alternates for the letterbox and multi as well. I will also make sure we have a benchmark somewhere on the way just for an added bonus.

I spotted our cache "north bound rest stop (Carey)" along route 23 on your map, so I checked it Thursday and all is well. I left you some pathtags, but the cache got logged before I was an hour down the road, so the tags may not be there when you get to it. This rest area is open again; it looks like they replaced a lot of the concrete sidewalks and stuff.
Further north on I-75, a combination of tight traffic and lack of attention kept me from looking for "Northbound I-75 Rest Area" by Mighty Mo. We still haven't found that one yet. Can't comment on the footbridge or how wet the low area might be since I missed the ramp.
