Some updated GC.com stuff
Some new/revised clarifications on cache placement"
Some updated stuff
One thing is a requirement to explain the solution of your puzzle submission to the reviewer.
I can just barely explain my puzzles to myself, how the heck am I going to explain them to Keystone?

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
Without going too far in, looks like they want the GC numbers on the container.
So now every cache placement will require at least two visits to ground zero.
Can't walk the trail, hide it, take coords, and go home and publish it without going back to put the GC# on it.
Unless you start the cache page, label the container, toss in some phony coords, then go out and find a place for it.
That way it'd be only one trip.

Maybe pull multiple cache pages with phoney coords. Label several containers and haul then around instead of the assortment of containers currently in the back of the geovehicle.

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
We can keep the crazy collection of containers in the car.
Just make a bunch of labels to put on them.
Or a list of numbers and a black Sharpie.
Good luck getting those GC#s on micros & nanos.

Match sticks and MKHs would work but nano caches will be a challenge for numbers.

geez maybe for a small token of appreciation, keystone would pass those puzzle solutions on to me, especially the roadkill ones...
nano encryption device - sounds like something for PBZ to conjure up for that PIA dude...
rules - schmules - y'all know that keystone will still hafta keep on eye on my cache publications, cuz i always forget something...
besides, otherwise it wouldn't be an unique suchacache... (this is use your smilies week)

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
Make it a requirement of the cache that the FTF has to carry an indelible marker and inscribe the GC number on the container.
Naw, that would then make it an ALR cache, not allowed.
From now on, I'm going to micro-engrave the GC number on the cache container. Sort of like what they've been doing with hidden serial numbers on firearms for the past 10 years or so. It's there, just -very- hard to see.

Actually this is a good idea if modified. You can't make it a requirement but you could ask the first finder to do it for you.GrizzFlyer wrote:Make it a requirement of the cache that the FTF has to carry an indelible marker and inscribe the GC number on the container..
Most of us local cachers would do it for each other.
With a large container you could use a sharpie and mark it on the inside, but with a matchbook or other micro it would have to be on the outside. Even permanent markers are't really permanent on most things, so this could be a problem.

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
I like the idea of pre-printed Geocaching stickers with the number on it. We are suppose to have a GC sticker on the outside. They could be printed with GC________ and the rest filled in by us. This would still require us to "pull" GC-codes in advance and carry the stickers with us.

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
I wonder if any of these lackies have ever hid a cache or even hunted one. How long do you think a homemade sticker is going to last on a box in the woods Water, dirt, general outdoor grime? The vinyl ones like for car plates, bumper stickers etc. will last a long time but you can't print those at home.
This just sounds like an unworkable idea.

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
I suspect the reason for this is in response to the "bomb squad" issue.

Re: Some updated GC.com stuff
When we cached around the areas outside Chicago, most of the size 2+ caches we found were clear lok-n-loks with the word "GEOCACHE" clearly written along the top.
We thought that was curious, we hadn't seen them hidden that way anywhere else.
We stopped to find a cache at a roadside rest stop and saw these "dudes" scurrying around the brush line along the back, looking for something.
We thought they might be cachers, but they were some 200 ft away from the cache.
We got out and found the cache, as they were paying no attention to us, as we obviously were just travelers.
Later we saw the same truck pulled over by police on the side of the road, and reckoned they must have been looking for some other sort of illegal material.
So the two caches we placed out there were non-camoed lok-n-loks with the Sharpied-word "GEOCACHE" on the lid.
That way they won't be IDed as being there for drug drops or anything.
Maybe just the word "GEOCACHE" with the info brochure on the inside would be acceptable in a pinch.
