IF it makes life easier..... YES!! i have had enough "issues" w/ computers & programs -- one doesn't need more headaches!
it sounds like it would be a move for the better

Another "Yes" vote cast by Team Maltese.
My experience with websites and groups/committees can be summed up in the following 3 items:
1 - a typical membership just wants their site to work
2 - a typical membership wants item 1 completed as economically as possible unless they aren't paying for it, in which case cost doesn't matter
3 - the site admin(s) should be trusted to find the best balance of reliability, required features, and costing mechanisms to meet the requirements of the site.
Glad to see things up and running again, thanks!

I'm gonna take this opportunity to officially pass the lead to Gizmo then - I'll drop him a SQL dump of the data when he's got the site up and assist him in getting it working, but I'll officially pass the torch on running the web piece.
I've been pretty "out of caching" for long enough now that I think it's time.

Re: Should we move the Web Site to another server
This is sorta like passing a torch to someone who is running the wrong way, as I hardly cache anymore either, but I'll make sure we get the new hosting location set up and maybe then I'll probably start looking for a replacement myself.jslagle wrote:I'm gonna take this opportunity to officially pass the lead to Gizmo then - I'll drop him a SQL dump of the data when he's got the site up and assist him in getting it working, but I'll officially pass the torch on running the web piece.

For those who are not aware, Jason has contributed to NWOGEO in more ways than most know. His behind the scenes work in the past to set up our site, keep it running, and to migrate it to a new software package are just part of it all.
He has never accepted any reimbursement for his efforts or hardware investment. He has also contributed to our group by paying for a Premium Membership at geocaching.com for NWOGEO.
I have paid a hosting site and set up a temporary site to test the viability of a move. There are issues with how the account was set up, and I need to see if it can be changed. Once that is solved, I'll be contacting Jason to arrange to make the move.
