20,000 caches
I just noticed that there are currently exactly 20,000 caches in the state of Ohio. Jeez, that is a lot.

Here is the culprit: http://coord.info/GC2T1AH
I was watching the number climb as I was reviewing caches yesterday and can confirm that this was the first time Ohio has topped 20,000.

Cool, I wonder how that compares to other states.

Which one was Michigan's 20000?
And they have only a 300 or so lead!

Re: 20,000 caches
I would have to assume the only reason Keystone knows which one was 20,000 is because he published it.
You would probably have to contact all of the Michigan reviewers to find out what was 20,000 in mitten land.

Re: 20,000 caches
Historically over the past 3 or 4 years, Ohio was always breathing down Pennsylvania's neck and I wondered whether there were enough uncached lamp posts and guardrails to permit the Buckeyes to overtake the Keystoners someday. And in that timeframe, Ohio was traditionally slightly ahead of New York and comfortably ahead of Michigan.T-Hunter wrote:Cool, I wonder how that compares to other states.
You have already seen that Ohio is now neck and neck with Michigan. New York has 19,991 caches as of this post - so much for being slightly ahead -- that is a dead heat. And Pennsylvania has motored well ahead, with 22,405 caches. Apparently you guys are running out of cemeteries.
I can post historic and current details if anyone's interested.

Re: 20,000 caches
It would be cool to know how many active caches there were in Ohio each January 1.
It would also be cool to know how many caches have been published each year.
