Re: VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
Can't wait to see how they to distinguish these from waymarking.
Especially now that earthcaches don't require photos at location anymore.
Maybe they won't let them be close to another cache, or only allow every cacher a specific number to own.
I'm sure they will have to mark someplace of value.
I.E. This virtual is special to me, as it is at the Walmart that opened on my 36th birthday.

Re: VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
Maybe they could just take Waymarking out back behind the shed and shoot it in the head?

Re: VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
Virtuals have a place in geocaching, and I enjoyed doing them. Also enjoyable were locationless caches, they should bring those back too. Both of these types of caches would need some type of quality assurance procedure so the real lame ones get culled out. That would be the big challenge on these types of caches.
Bring 'em back!!
Bring 'em back!!

We never got the chance to do a locationless cache and are sad about that.

VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
I read about this on Jeremy Irish's facebook page a couple months ago. I was excited.

Does anybody really do waymarking? The only ones around here have only been found a time or two, by bashers.shannienkitch wrote:Maybe they could just take Waymarking out back behind the shed and shoot it in the head?
I hope there are some pretty strict guidelines for the new virtuals!

I would expect that you would have to send a picture to the reviewer of the object of interest in order to be published.

I wonder if you will have to provide name and phone number of the permission giver, like EC's, too?

Re: VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
The only waymarking I have done are a few of the original Ohio-Michigan state line granite markers that don't have their own PID and thus aren't listed on the geocaching dot com site. My goal is to find all of the existing markers, and I just wanted a way to document the recoveries. Only have a few left to go, but they will be the real tough ones. This Spring.....Handyman-N-Fam wrote:Does anybody really do waymarking? The only ones around here have only been found a time or two, by bashers.

Yes, the new guidelines will make or break the renaissance of virtuals.

Re: VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
As an aside on the Ohio-Michigan boundary markers (since it jogged my memory)...one of the old stone markers that was removed I believe somewhere in the vicinity of where M-99/OH-15 is (my memory is a bit hazy on the exact detail), is on the grounds of the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds near the corner of Broad and South St in Hillsdale. If you go to the front gate by the Fair Office (near the aforementioned intersection) which is almost always open, the Hillsdale County Historical Society building is the little white house on the hill. The marker is beside the house on the side towards the fair office. I will try and get a picture and refresh the details on it next time I am near the fairgrounds.GrizzFlyer wrote:The only waymarking I have done are a few of the original Ohio-Michigan state line granite markers that don't have their own PID and thus aren't listed on the geocaching dot com site. Re: VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS VIRTS
I wonder if the new Virtuals will have a new cache type name and new icon to differentiate them from the old Virtuals.
