Mygeocachingprofile.com Acquired by Groundspeak!

Mygeocachingprofile.com Acquired by Groundspeak!
12/15/2010

Great news for lovers of geocaching statistics! Groundspeak has acquired the mygeocachingprofile.com site and will be moving the statistics, charts, and maps into the geocaching.com website! They have already begun an initial transfer of several profile sections into a new "Stats" tab in your geocaching profile and they plan to move over more sections in the near future. Look for the new "Stats" profile tab in the upcoming geocaching.com release next week!

The mygeocachingprofile.com website will continue to be available in its current form so cachers can take advantage of any existing sections that haven't yet been incorporated into the main geocaching.com site. We'll also be passing along all of your fantastic development suggestions to the Groundspeak team so that they can continue providing new statistics and maps directly on geocaching.com.

Thanks to all of our users for your tremendous support and thanks to Groundspeak for bringing these fun features to the geocaching community!

Happy caching!

Cameron and Jan (Brainzane & Yossface)

I wonder if this is good or bad news.

Are you trying to tell me that they could have had www.itsnotaboutthenumbers.com! That was a much better stat site.
I am an amazed cacher!

I suppose if they would have survived just a little bit longer, it could have been them that was acquired. I guess they closed up shop a couple months too early.

I did not see it either. I just went to the site and load a new finds PQ. It was pretty easy and you get some cool stats.

I think the GSAK stats Macro is just as good though. At least to my eye!

For those of us that are GSAK illiterate, it is the only place to find certain stats, like the Delorme map, and county maps. :?

The MyGeocachingProfile statistics will be rolled out in several phases, beginning with next week's code update at Geocaching.com. I have seen the end product and it is way cool. Press an "update" button on your profile and it will show current stats - no more ordering a MyFinds query and uploading it to a website!

Those who prefer the GSAK stats macro or other solutions will be happy as they will be able to continue doing so.

Those who don't want their stats displayed will also be happy as there is a button to turn off the display.

Also in the next update we will see vastly improved cache maps, as well as a "favorite caches" voting feature for those who wish to search for highly regarded geocaches.

You guys want to see screenshots? This will be a nice holiday gift.

Will be looking forward to it.

A video of the updated maps is on the geocaching.com blog. Looks great!

My Window's 7/Firefox browser already doesn't like me to zoom out to 2 miles on the current map. It locks up Firefox for about 30 seconds every time I do it. I can only imagine what will happen if I try to zoom out as far as that video did. Hopefully the update runs differently.

I like the Zoom out feature. I have always disliked 500 cache limit on the map.

This should be nice I've liked mygeocachingprofile.com and have used it for some time now. As far as INATN.COM it was great but it was down half the time.

We've been using Mygeocachingprofile for a awhile.
Sheryl loves it, as she had always been in charge of the our geo-updates.
BTW, Mina is in charge of finding the caches, and Mike's in charge of taking out the trash.

Now you know TeamMina's pecking order.
