You have until May 15 to change your name in GC.

I would change mine but am proud of the dumbest Geo name ever distinction. Can't let down my fans. LOL

Thanks for the heads up on this Clatmandu!

I would think that this is an important enough change, that everyone should have been emailed about it. Of course then their servers may have crashed with everyone scrambling to change their names!

Our name has nothing to do with Bears or Claws. I guess you could say its a phonetical misrepresentation of our last name. For some reason people spell our last name all kinds of ways, I actually have a collection that I cut from letters, junk mail, etc that are sent to me. I have around 50 or so with some of them quite funny (to me anyways) like Beerickflow and of course Bearclaw. My son started using this name (with a couple numbers after it) for his communications with his buddies online. When we set up our GC account we just went with it as our team name. At first GC.COM wouldn't accept it, I noticed lots of things were in quotations so we tried using them with our name and "The Bearclaws" team was officially formed. Later, when we became premium members we found out why it wouldn't accept without the quotations. I was waiting for the membership to be activated and wondering why there was a delay. In looking around I found out that someone else uses the same name without the quotations and guess what, they had received our membership by error. I contacted them and we both contacted GC.COM and got it all straightened out. Now my son got the nickname Cub another way. We had just placed our first cache and he was playing around in the area and identified himself to the Cachemeister as the cache owner. Cachemeister then wrote about it in his log that the Bearclaw Cub was out and about and he wished he would have been there earlier when he couldn't locate it. Since then we have used the Cub to distinguish between who is signing logbooks and logging finds. I plan to start logging as Mr B aand Mrs B will do the same. Being registered as a family team it became apparent that we needed a way to be individuals when we communicate with others and leave our "trail". One last thing I want to say is that I received an email from another cacher who put the pieces together and guessed who I am, I've known Stumpy75 for a loooong time but didn't know he was a geocacher, that was a neat surprise. So, thats our story. Mr B

The first part of our name is obvious-- "TheOhio"... Adam's nickname for me has always been jennybear, ever since we started dating. And after a year of that, I started callign him "bear". Cheesy, yes, but you know, what nicknames aren't cheezy? So, we decided on "TheOhioBears" as our avatar.

I thought up a really neat name but found out that jsj444 was already taken, so I settled with Cachemeister.
