Re: What's in a name?
My wife, Lindsay saw information on geocaching in a parenting magazine and thought it would be fun while on vacation in Gaylord, MI. So on way up there we stopped at Cabellas and picked up a GPSr. She did the first logging on to the website and therefore threw her email name up as our name. She only goes caching with me if we are in a vacation spot and even then probably would rather be doing something else. So she wanted to start the madness and the madness got stuck on me. So most of the finds are made by the male of the family. Kind of tough on the machismo to get a FTF and have to log it as Linzypooh49. The only part of the name that is me is 49 which is my jersey number in high school football. If I had my way it would be Aaronpooh49. Wait that still doesn't fit me. Guess I will just stay LP49...

Can't believe I have not seen this forum before this. Well when I started cacheing all four of my kids were starting to cache also so. Plus look at my winter picture that I use as my avator. Does the name fit? Boring I know

Ours stands for Rob-N-Wendy and our 3 digit address 422. Very ingenious I know.

Once you start geocaching, you kind of start adding geo to things (geo-dog, geo-mobile, etc.), so I thought I would just add geo to my last name (which is kind of geo by itself) and added my favorite number. Yes 13 and yes I WAS born on a Friday the 13th. For those of you that know or have met me, this probably explains a lot.

I love scuba diving, so when it came to picking a nickname it was easy.

You call that a zoo?? "The "zoo" consists of -
Coal - black lab mix
Jasmine & Julius - cats
An occasional fish or two"
...I think you need to add a turtle, hamster, ginnea pig, rabbit and another couple of dogs for a zoo.... luckily, my zoo is down to two dogs and some fish! LOL

Re: What's in a name? (Geo-Name)
FANTASTIC THREAD GOOD DOG... this explanation is good for both of us...
My son, Mike, started geo-caching last winter and used a handle that he composed from our last name ( Suchomma, pronounced suh-coma) and since most strangers pronounce the SUCH, he used that to identify himself...as SUCHAPOLARIS, for his fav winter sport...
He got me geo-hooked in the spring and gave me my Garmin Venture HC Etrex for Mother's Day... my life revolves around being a Christian Mom, Nana of 4, and Tailor... SUCHANANA sounded just like me and it stuck...
Glad to find this thread, I'll be geo-learning faster now...
