Hans Brinker Cache

Post by T-Hunter »

Have any of you taken a look at the Hans Brinker cache at Sunbury, OH.? It is a mystery cache with a picture. Joe (the owner) says it is all in the picture. Take a look and see if you can figure it out and let me know.

HA! Captphil and I have been looking at that everyday since it was released. I have an idea now, but need to research it a little further to see if I'm correct.

I have been watching it since it came out. I have a lot of ideas. Unfortunately none of them are any help with this cache!

I've been solving since it came out. None of my solutions have been correct.

From the title of the cache, I get the impression that it has something to do with nearby Hoover Reservoir. But I can't figure out the part about "the coordinates to the actual cache location can be found in this photo."

I've tried extracting the photo metadata. I tried converting to black and white, lightening and darkening, enhancing saturation, looking for some clue. Anything. I'm stumped. Maybe has something to do with the number/location of the fish? The ripples in the water? If he took the photo in Alaska, the only way for it to reflect coordinates to the cache would be if the photo was modified in some way or another. Right?

This was probably a bad choice for a first puzzle cache. If anybody figures this out, please IM me a hint.

Welcome to the club! You are traveling down the same path I have been down. I just can't get anywhere. I assume that the information is hidden in the picture some how, but I can not figure it out either.

Well Shawn I take it you didn't figure out the puzzle....? I've tried about everything I could think of and nothing works so far.

This is precisely why I have puzzles on my ignore list. Maybe this winter or when I can't afford the gas to go find traditional and multi caches I will work on the impossible puzzles.

I sure don't need puzzles to drive me crazy I'm already there

I like doing the puzzle caches. It sure does expand your way of thinking sometimes but the ones that are so difficult that NOBODY can solve them is just rediculous. If someone doesn't want a cache found then why hide it. I heard a story about a cache that was hard to find. When someone finally did find it they started telling their buddies how to find it. Once the owner found out he archived it.

I did a several puzzle caches when I was on the OBX. They were pretty interesting and took some time to solve, but they were solvable. I enjoyed the challenge and was able to get my wife to help. The "impossible puzzles" around here have me turned off to puzzles. I may try to work on some this winter but I much prefer walking in the woods than trying to figure out puzzles.
