If you aren't FTF, you're last to find.

If they had to use a tool to dig the whole, to my understanding, it is against the rules.

I thought you weren't allowed to dig a hole.

There I go thinking again

I have definitely found caches hidden in a hole (dug by the CO).... One even had lots of favorites. Myself included.

They are not allowed, that doesn't mean they don't exist. Two different things.

I have noticed that, when people submit caches for review, very few of them write a private reviewer note saying "by the way, I used a backhoe to excavate a ten foot trench for this cache and that is why the difficulty level is four stars." Some cache owners seem to be shy and private about such things.

I wonder why that is.

I saw this video also and thought it was a good one. I would say not against the rules, because you do not have go dig to find the cache.

I believe you can put a cahe down into a hole as long as you don't have to use a shovel or any other means of digging to retrieve it.

The guideline

This is the quote from above. Read it closely

3.Geocaches are never buried. If a shovel, trowel or other pointy object is used to dig or break ground, whether in order to hide or to find the cache, then it is not permitted.

It's always nice to eliminate the opinions and deal with the FACTS.

Thanks cheech.

I think Scuba is asking.... What if you didn't dig the hole. There are natural ones that someone just places ground cover over for the hide.

I like the concept, just have to get past the hole problem. Find some other way to place the "holding tube" thingie that was underground in the video. Water would be a problem in most areas too.

Now that I think about it, I have a container that would be perfect for such a hide's outer container. Wouldn't have to bury it, in fact, just the opposite. Used it in GCK87Z, The Puzzle Tube.

Hmmmmm......
