A Request concerning Metro Parks Placements

Could everyone please state on the cache page that they have a permit to place a cache in a Metro Park? This helps us all, but especially the review team. When a new cacher heads out to find some caches in parks with no notice that explicit permission needs to be obtained, I get to be a "bully" and make them see a ranger to get a permit. It's hard enough getting people to follow the rules, but when they think that only they need to follow the rules because they just joined, none of us benefit.

Thanks for your consideration.

I've dealt with you before Capn.. You are one tough buckeye to crack. Thanks. We need to keep geocaching a smart sport.

Requested approvals 31 days ago from Metroparks for 3 caches in Side Cut park, so far no response . I beleive I may have been the first to attempt to get an official approval. I don't beleive anyone has received a response yet.

Some have been in the queue with approvals and permit numbers, but they've been posted as reviewer notes, which is fine, but it's hiding something that should be visible to everyone in the description.

Maybe some of the artistic talent up here could put together a little logo or maybe something like the Groundspeak Stats image so you can customize your permit number in the image? That would be uber-cool.

I've been waiting 3 weeks for approval for Xmas Shindig cache. I did my part.

OK, so who has received approvals from Metroparks?

Not me. It's been about a month. I have a written reply that says they are ok, but no permit numbers. You could see this coming from about 2 years away.

Yeah, I had an email that said they would be grandfathered for a year, and I could have more than one existing one in each park for now, but no actual approval number.

I'm still curious as to who may have already received a permit number.

I wrote C.Buckeye a month ago and asked what happens at Christmas if we don't have permit numbers.
I never got an answer to that.

I think that if we can show that they were approved, that should be enough to get them published. I can forward the email from Tammy.

As we were preparing for the Holiday Shindig, I emailed Tammy to let her know the party planners were planning to place about 12 new caches at Oak Openings for the event. I believe that Jason was emailed with a message that basically said they were not currently accepting caches until the next permit cycle, but would make an exception. (Good thing, we'll be a lot less bored hunting caches than staring at each other at the Shindig, we got music and food just in case...;) ).

When we submitted our caches, we emailed the completed paperwork. She emailed us back a copy with permit #100 in the upper left hand corner. She requested we re-sumbit our paperwork after the first of the year to make them official for the next round. If you were hoping that a new cache were to be approved for the shindig as well, email Jason, he's our NWOGEO liason.

I agree with Buckeye about a graphic...how about a "approved" green stamp logo, with a link to the metroparks policy. That would rock.

Mine and Heathers have gotten approval.
