Crawford County Parks District

Post by shawn_woerlein »

Received an email from the Crawford County Parks District today. Thought I would share with everyone here. Not fully sure if there is a new naturalist, or if rules have changed over the years, but permissions were granted for the caches that are hidden here. Just thought I would pass along the information:

Hi GeoCachers,
As a Naturalist with the Crawford Park District, I just wanted to pass
along to your members some information that we received from the State
of Ohio concerning placing geocaches at Sears Woods near Bucyrus in
Crawford County. It is their policy that NO geocaches are to be placed
in Sears Woods State Nature Preserve.

Also concerning the other parks in the Crawford Park District, (Heckert
Nature Preserve, Lowe-Volk Park, Unger Park, and Sandusky Wildlife Area)
we request that you check in at the Nature Center at Lowe-Volk Park to
report the caches that you hide. We don't mind that you place them in
these parks if you check in, monitor them often and only hide along the
trails. Please don't venture off the trails or do any excavating when
hiding your cache. In your descriptions, please advise people to follow
these "rules".
Also keep in mind that Sandusky Wildlife Area is a hunting area and
permits are issued to hunters to be on that property throughout the
year.(Not a good idea to hide things there)

We would greatly appreciate it if you could inform your members. Please
email me if you have any questions.

Thanks
