Check-In/Welcome Table Planning

- Where to set up check-in table. Possibly to rear of lobby just before rear entrance to Great Room, leaving front doors to great room closed. This also allows room for people to come in from cold, and further separation from non cacher public.
(We may need to ask officials if we can use lobby area or not, as we are only renting the Great Hall and outdoor deck.)

Table:
- NWOGEO Log Book
- NWOGEO Banner (reminder to sign if over 500 finds)
- Maintain count of teams, adults per team, children per team.
- Name tags (hand written or computer generated to be determined.)
- Table decorations
- "What is Geocaching" brochures for curious non caching public.
- Latest printout of "who's attending" from GC Event Page.
- Power outlet available

I asked them when I checked it out, and your suggested location is fine. We can't block the entrance.

Great work on all these topics Gizmo.

To confirm, this is what I was thinking:

I have been waiting to see if anyone else would step up to volunteer for other positions before I stepped in myself.

Now that others have started to volunteer for other areas, I'll take on this one.

I'll try to stop by their tomorrow to check it out in advance.

I stopped yesterday to check out the Great Room, and talk to the staff.

- We can NOT use the lobby or any other area of the building for our event. So that means our check-in will have to be within the actual Great Room.

- There is a coat check to the left of the first door to the Great Room I am thinking that we want to keep those doors closed, and direct people to the second doors for check-in. This will allow more space in the lobby, and coat checking at the opppsite end of the Great Room will avoid congestion inside the doors.

- Notes to self and other check-in helpers:
- Signage for 1st doors, "Check-in, that way ------> "
- Signage at check-in, " <----- Coat Room, that way "

This is not what the head ranger told me. He said we could use that little desk and area, everyone does, as long as we don't block the lobby.

We still need one or two people to help Gizmo at the check in.
Collecting the $5/person
handing out name nags
50/50 raffel
macadamia nut cookie runner
general pointing "that way"
etc.

Notes for our next major event:

- During the initial half hour or so of the event, 3 people should be manning the registration table if we have event fees, 50/50 raffles, voting tickets, and name tags to handle.

More as I think about it.

You and your faithful assistant did a great job at the desk. The home town is also a good idea.
