Activities Planning - Geocaching at Event

Postby PBZ » Wed 2008-09-24, 14:53:54

We would be glad to help hide some caches for the event. Will these be temporary or permanent caches? Also, since this is a Nature Reserve, assuming we would have to abide by Wood Co. Park District rules, that probably means no caches actually inside the park, due to the nature of the area?

Looking forward to our first Xmas party. Let us know what else we can do to help :D

Temporary vs Permanent Caches for Event
Thanks P-burgZoo! In the past we have found that people really do not care for temporary caches too much. So let's see what Good Dog has to say about it. Good Dog can also reply to you better about the cache restrictions.

I seem to remember that there is already a cache at that site.(GCHKHN - a virtual).

I looked at the building when I was looking for the cache. I went inside, and remember a meeting room and thought about the Christmas party, but that was a couple of years ago. It IS a nice place, but I don't remember a lot about the room...

I haven't jumped into the forums for awhile, so I just saw this topic. I would love to place a cache or two in the area to help out. Let me know what else is needed...I live close.

Thx!

We can definitely help head up Caching Activities.

I'll check on the possibility of permanents. I guess my next question is, thinking ahead, if we can't have permanent caches, is it possible to list temporary caches on GC and then just archive them right after the event? I don't know if this causes an issue or not but we were just talking about this last night - at least then people would feel they get "credit" for caches in the park.

I think there are probably plenty areas close to the park to hide permanent caches anyway. We can always see if Barnacle Bear would like to resurrect Aragog's Revenge for some quality entertainment as one of the activities

Thanks Mike, I guess there is no need for me to contact the park district then about placing any permanent caches. I didn't even think about people posting multiple "attend" logs for the temporary caches. That will work if that is what cachers want to do. Thanks!

P-Burg Zoo had a recent success with a Wood County Park approval, give it another shot!

As for multiple logs: give them the OK for the option.
