BardenBella finds #1000!!!, TFPBP heads south...

Post by Team ForPawz »

The date was August 23rd, 2015. We had been planning a day trip for the four of us to go geocaching to find a certain legendary cache...one of the top 5 favorites in the state of Ohio. Into the Geovehicle climbed Team ForPawz (without geokids or geopups for a change), BardenBella and pitch slapped. We have recently been signing as TFPBP on our trips to conserve log space. Our journey was well planned out, and it started with a short hike at a service plaza on 75. pitch slapped needed a potty break, and so the remaining three went for a hike into a small copse that had a perfectly, almost too perfectly, laid geotrail. I didn't even try to eat any spiders!!! By the time we got back and headed to the second cache at the plaza, pitchslapped was already there with cache in hand.

For the next few hours, we found many geocaches. We pondered the age-old question of the Chicken vs. the Egg. We visited a museum dedicated to a brave soul who took a small step on the moon. We found a cache that shared the name of the most famous Led Zepplin song. We went to two or three cachers homes, found our way around the countryside of Wapakoneta, and aroused a spirited quest here and there.

Finally, it was time to visit the backyard of an honored historian in the center of town. It was time to conquer the legend of Mocopulence. Up and down, around and around we went. We found all of the clues except for one quite easily. After continuing to inspect every inch of this space, we figured it was time to sit down and see what we had. I (Jeff) sat down on a rock and figured out the range of possibilities as to where the cache could be based on the clues we had. It was within 15 feet! The 4 of us scattered and searched like hungry wolves discovering a fresh scent. I won't give away a spoiler, but we had cache in hand within 3 minutes. It was an amazing time had by the 4 of us. This was truly a must have experience.

The thing that made this trip extra special...is that it was the 1,000th find for BardenBella!!! We've been talking about going down there since last year when we went on a trip to Ft. Wayne, and the 4 of us finally made our way down there for a very special time! Milestones deserve road trips, and we were happy we could be there to share in BardenBella's fun...Congrats!!!

Congrats on your milestone! You have unlocked the secret - it's not about the numbers, but the memories and adventures and friends along the way :-)
