Puter Crashed
I recently had to replace my motherboard and video card on my computer. Since getting it up and running again I can't seem to get my queries to load into GSAK. I used to just unzip them and drag them onto the GSAK database but for some reason they won't drag over now. They won't move at all. Any tech savvy indivduals have any idea what I need to do? Thanks
Jeff

Re: Puter Crashed
I also noticed that before when I would click the attachment in the e-mail, Winzip would automatically come up. Now some other program is trying to open the zip file. Could this be the problem and if so, how do I make winzip the default program again? Thanks again.

Re: Puter Crashed
Can you "select" them? If you can, try to Copy and Paste them and see if that works. Use the "Edit" menu or use CTRL-C to Copy and CTRL-V to Paste.
Re: Puter Crashed
If I right click on them to try to get the drop down menu nothing happens. It's as if the files are empty.

Re: Puter Crashed
Do you have WinZip on the "new" setup?

Re: Puter Crashed
My computer crashed awhile ago and it got partially fixed. It's back in the shop now, but I had the exact same problem. I ended up deleting some program called WinZip that was on a free trial, and that allowed XP to unzip it, but I still couldn't use GSAK. Couldn't drag it over. I think I got a corrupted file in the GSAK and may need to reload it. Someone told me there is a similar program at GC which I may evnttually try.jsj444 wrote:I recently had to replace my motherboard and video card on my computer. Re: Puter Crashed
I do have winzip but I'm going to try reinstalling it again to see if that works. I reinstalled GSAK all ready. Not sure what else to try.

Re: Puter Crashed
OK, I finally got it to work in kind of a backward attempt.
I reinstalled Winzip, then I created a new query so it would run right away, when I tried to open it, it still tried to open with the Windows XP program, not Winzip. So I then copied the attachment to my desktop and opened it with Winzip and it worked fine. Kind of a pain but at least I can cache now.
I need to figure out how to get Winzip to be the default program for opening zipped attachments instead of the XP program. It was "opening" them but not unzipping them, even though it said it did.
Mike, you're probably having the same problem.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it.
If anyone knows how to make Winzip the default program, please let me know.
Thanks
Jeff

Re: Puter Crashed
I don't unzip the query, I just save it to a folder. Then with gsak open, just load the gpx(query) file.

Re: Puter Crashed
WinZip has an option somewhere to make it the default. You can also change the .zip file extension association to make WinZip the default.

Re: Puter Crashed
I drag the file directly from the header of the email to the GSAK icon on my desktop and it unscrooches automatically. I can't even say what unzip operation is done.
Re: Puter Crashed
Thank, I'll give it a try.
