Can someone give me a quick lesson on sending waypoints to a garmin? My sister is thinking about buying a 60csx and I will probably be her tech support.

If she uses GSAK - just change the setup to "Garmin" and check the box for USB. Then just send the waypoints. It'll work with EasyGPS too.

If you want to load Geocaching waypoint info directly to the Garmin, you can do it right from any cache page. The first time will require the self installation of a browser add-on, then it should be easy from there.Yogi57 wrote:Can someone give me a quick lesson on sending waypoints to a garmin? Just be sure that the LATEST Garmin USB driver is installed first on the PC. It installs automatically with any Garmin mapping software, or you can add it individually from the download links for the unit at the Garmin site. (See lead post for links.)

My sister brought her GPS home and show her how to load waypoints with gsak. But I didn't notice how many points can be loaded on or how to remove them for new. I was trying to load maps for her but I think she left her unlock code at home or we couldn't find how to retrieve them. The thing I didn't like was the fact it has too many screens/menus.

You can load up to 1000 entries in the "waypoints" or "geocaches" categories, easily using Mapsource, GSAK or EasyGPS, etc.
To clear the "waypoint" or "geocache" lists: press <Find>, select "waypoint" or "geocache", <enter>, <menu>, "delete", make your selection, <enter>, confirm that you want to delete them, and press <enter> again.
If you upload anything using the POI Loader, doing a new upload will overwrite any of the data you already had stored here.
Using the POI Loader/ (it's mentioned in the 1st message), you can load thousands. It's a little harder to upload them into the GPSr and they don't show up in the categories above (they'll be in a "Custom POI" category on the Find menu). I used it on a trip last year where I didn't have access to a pc. Most of the time, I store non-gc.com waypoints here.Yogi57 wrote:But I didn't notice how many points can be loaded on or how to remove them for new.

In an edit to the top post of this forum, GizmoGuy411 wrote:(Cheechgang has reported that GPS SW Version Version 3.00 is now available, however only via the WebUpdater. Garmin tech says that the new software has not yet migrated to all of the unit specific download areas due to engineer workload. As of 12/05/07 only the Forerunner 205/305 pages have been updated. You may click here to download it manually as this software is the same for all applicable units.)

BBD reccomended to us looking @ Walmart.com. That is where we purchased ours, and saved a lot at that time.
