Thats for the info Stumpy! I've added it to the lead post of this thread.

Here is the address for a patch that the MDNR and Ohio State have tested and both really like. No insecticides or repellents, but I would think using these with Deet might be a great solution. I'm ordering 40 of them(great price break), so if anyone is interested in trying some, let me know.

I have an idea. If you could get the deer fly glue put on to patches in the shape of our logo. then you could stick it to your chest and have a living logo. Maybe Cheech could come up with a picture.

I think putting getting them cut with our logo and putting them on a hat would be neat. Looks like it should be easy to cut them!!

Spring will be here soon and the ticks will soon be showing their heads. Here is a good way to get them off you, your children, or your pets. Give it a try.


A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works!

I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove
a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it's some times
difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head
full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its
own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
This technique has
worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently, and it's much less
traumatic for the patient and easier for me.
Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging
in any way.
I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had
one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"

I wouldnt be suprised if it does work. The soap could irritate them to the point they want to leave your body thinking that its your skin producing it.

Far better than they way I removed my last tick.

- Did everyone hear that a little girl was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever after a tick bite last week or so? And of course she was NOT diagnosed correctly the first time they took her in!

- Everyone who has not read the leading post here should do so. There are definitely several ways that ticks should NOT be removed.

I know DougOhio2 said they found several ticks after getting in the car & we flicked one off Holly before she got in the car. I think they are REALLY bad this year! Either that or I'm visiting "tickier" places! Watch yourself, check your geopartner's neck and back before getting in the car, unless they have eyes in the back of their head!

And just because you've checked yourselves before getting in the car, doesn't mean those little buggers didn't get in your geo-vehicle yourself.
We've had two instances of finding ticks on us just being in the car doing everyday errands.

They're Baaaack! Had a couple of ticks on me after walking at Secor Metropark. I guess spring has sprung!

And that's not all... Every puddle we saw at Secor was full of mosquito larvea! And, no, I wasn't even rolling in the grass out there(or smoking any either!)!
