GC cache page wallpaper

Post by GoodDog »

I recently started adding a different wallpaper photo to some caches. Is there a way to view this wall paper without all the cache info blocking 90% of it.? I've seen some interesting backgrounds lately but can't figure a way to view the picture. Going to the source only gets you a bunch of computer code.

I don't know the purpose or how to view them, like you said most of it is blocked.

Mike,

Go to the cache page and view the "source"
Hold CTRL and press F (find) type "background" and click on "Find Next" copy something that looks like http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/display/8b088470-1e6f-4bf8-88f4-9265abec92fd.jpg

Then paste it into the address bar of your browser.

Hope this helps

Wow! I'm impressed!

Great advice MM! I could not have said it better.

Also with IE, if you want to save the background, just right click anywhere on the page and click on "Save Background As...".

If you want more of your background to appear on your cache pages, a trick I have used in the past, is to put the entire contents of the "Long Description" inside of a borderless HTML Table, and then assign a background image to the Table. As long as the image is washed out like a watermark or has enough contrast with the text, the entire "Long Description" area has the background image. The background can also be just a solid color. I describe the technique here at: http://nwogeo.org/Forums/viewtopic/p=16530.html#16530 and in my Geoache-HTML document here: Geocache-HTML.

Oh yeah! And don't forget that Geocaching.com tends to mess up some HTML, the first time you submit it. Just submit it again and it appears as you intended.
