Re: 2011 Christmas Holiday Shindig?
One of the problems has been hall rental. Not availability or cost, but insurance and long term implications since the group doesn't exist in any real official capacity. Hall rental normally requires insurance. People (Well good dog mostly) have added it as an add-on to their homeowners in the past,...

Re: 2011 Christmas Holiday Shindig?
In Michigan, the main organization, MiGO, hosts two large events each year. The Fall Fun Day , which is a free event at a park with a potluck and more caching oriented, which rotates among the chapters (SW, SE, Northern LP, UP). In early February, they host the Winter Social at a more central locat...

True moops containers are originally orange or green.
They are also waterproof and of a much higher quality plastic than most cache containers.
Sure you've found a real one

Re: Should we move the Web Site to another server
I'm gonna take this opportunity to officially pass the lead to Gizmo then - I'll drop him a SQL dump of the data when he's got the site up and assist him in getting it working, but I'll officially pass the torch on running the web piece. I've been pretty "out of caching" for long enough no...

Re: Should we move the Web Site to another server
I'm not sure we need to keep this open any longer. Even I voted yes... It's kinda interesting - I've hosted the site on hardware I own for what, 8 years now? And this is the first outage of any significant length I've ever had. As I told GG and for complete transparency, I will point the DNS at the ...

Re: Site up
We'd probably want to use 1&1 or something similar. Make no mistake - the location of the box is a local comapnies hot site. It has redundant network, battery back up, generator, etc. Things can and do just fail. Arranging to get in is a pain. My full time day job takes care of lots of servers. ...

I'm tempted to say the "club" should just look at webhosting.

Site up
As some of you have no doubt noticed the site is back up. I should have moved the IP to my other server there and at least put up a maint page - I'll do that next time. It took me a bit to arrange access to the server to replace the failed part. Both I and the people I had to engage are busy! It's b...

Is there camping near that Keystone
I'm not sure I'd be able to get all the grids, but I'm dying for some terrain.

Re: perhaps a new challenge coming???
As for cachers doing a little work to create one........... I would agree with Mo, I think you run the risk of encouraging people to make lame EC and letterbox hides. Just because you require people to make that type of hide does not mean that they will put the effort into it. Same goes for ...
