Re: Geocaching Survey

They are really doing a study on human reaction to the request for access from an artificial intelligence, sort of a mini Turing test. You all failed!

Re: iphones?

I'll try to test it this weekend. I did put the iPhone in airplane mode and iGeocacher seemed to work fine.

Re: iphones?

I believe the iPhone 3G and 3Gs will work as a GPS without the need for Cell towers. From what I've read they use whatever is quickest to respond initially for location purposes. Using an application that zeros in on the GPS chip such as iGeocacher (great app BTY!) allows you to use your iPhone in t...

I took Geordi for a walk around the block and when he raised his leg, he made ice cubes. He looked up and me and said are you crazy?

Maybe tomorrow...

Re: Wherigo

Looking it over it looks like a cross between geocaching and D & D or more like the old Colossal Cave. You download some data into the device (cartridge), go to the appropriate location and when you find things you are supposed to find (virtual), then you "get" them. Sort of making the...

I think Gore invented the first one which is in jeopardy because of global warming. Bush's is run by nucelear, neuclar, or nukelear power! :-)

Re: What's in a name?

Northwest Ohio Information & Software Exchange (more commonly known as NOISE). Just to show you how long ago that was, it cost me $1,500 for the 320 meg (yes megabyte) drive to run that puppy. TBBS (Jim Dunmyer) came along with deeper pockets and passed me shortly thereafter, but technically he ...

Re: What's in a name?

So I'm getting old, I'm geeky, and I'm a Trekkie, hence the choice of avatar. Ok, I've studied the avitar. Maybe my eyes are too old, but what is it? You may be sorry you asked... It is a space probe from Star Trek (season 2, episode 37 titled "The Changeling"). Or if that is just too wei...

Re: What's in a name?

I have used this name since back in the BBS days. I wanted just "Nomad" but it was already used, so I added "I AM A" to it. Now for some useless trivia - Back in 1986 I ran the Largest BBS in Northwest Ohio (4 lines and 320 Meg!). So I'm getting old, I'm geeky, and I'm a Trekkie,...
