2014 NWOGEO HOLIDAY SHINDIG?
Will there be one for this year? I searched, but couldn't find an event.
We'd put down our "will attend", with the usual caveat of "weather permitting".

Re: HOW FAR WILL YOU GO FOR A CACHE?
We're not one's to wander too far from where we are "now". Yesterday, we took a ~100 mile detour down to South Carolina to find 2 caches. It was a beautiful day and the leaves on the trees were quite colorful. It would have been quicker to head back to Ohio from North Carolina, but we deci...

Re: 2011 Christmas Holiday Shindig?
Thanks for taking that into consideration. We still have vivid memories of running into snow and black ice on our way to a shindig.
We hope to make it to this year's event!GoodDog wrote:I would vote for the 4th to lesson the chance of snow problems.

Re: kinda dissapointing...
The situation is unfortunate. You might remember us (wife and I) from last year's Geobash or SN's event in Cleveland. I live in Columbus, yet visit nwogeo , geochums , and Central Ontario Geocacher's regularly. As far as the Central Ontario Geocacher's are concerned, we've made 4 annual trips up to ...

We *really* wanted to attend this year, but the weather was too bad in Columbus for us to drive up to the event.

Re: Geowoodstock 9
As the grand daddy of the mega events, it'll probably draw 5000+ cachers from all over the world. Compare that to the MWGB which is smaller and has more of a regional focus (though it brings in cacher's from several states, as well as at least 2 Canadian provinces). My wife and I have attended 2 Geo...

Re: New to Geocaching
If you wanted to create a multi, you'll need to have a traditional cache at the end. Gone are the days that gc.com allows new virtual caches - the ones that remain have been grandfathered into the rules. As far as rewards, geocoins are fairly expensive (~$2k+?) to mint. As an alternative, you might ...

You might also look for Rubbermaid Lock-Its. Candelaldy found some on clearance at Kroger's last week.

Juicepig (an Ontario cacher) held 2 movie nights last year. At the last one, they showed "Trailer Park Geocachers meet Bigfoot 2". Downloadable links to the movie can be found here.

Re: Geomate Jr.
They were demonstrating them at GeoWoodstock this year. As I recollect, the target audience was geocaching kids. While the parents would be using their good GPS, the kids could use one of these. The only use I *might* have for it, would be to get around the 500 waypoint maximiums in a PQ. If I've go...

Re: Benchmark Website
Thanks for the link. Using it, I discovered that I pass within 200' of a benchmark several times a day. I can see it from the garage I park in.
