Since most cemeteries are open only from sunrise to sunset, cache logs mentioning caching after sunset are prime target for their research. The proximity of caches to actual graves and various other activities they feel are inappropriate are also targeted.

As a result, both the cemetery cache/letterbox creator and the geocacher/letterboxer finder may be subject to official scrutiny, or even prosecution if this issue is sufficiently pressed, regardless of which state you are in.

Therefore, in an effort to preserve and self police our cemetery caching, we are encouraging everyone to closely abide by cemetery rules, to consider editing their cache pages accordingly, and scrutinize cache logs carefully.

Northwest Ohio geocachers who create cemetery or memorial gardens caches are also encouraged to edit their cache pages to include the following standard notice paragraph, along with the prefix "SQ - " in front of their cache name.
