Garmin Foretrex 101

I don't know much about this one, but Aldi stores has the Garmin Foretrex 101 "on sale" for $99.99 for the week of September 10th.

I am not sure if it is a good deal or if it works well to go geocaching, but if it does it may make a good GPSr for someone wanting to get started.

If you have any info on this GPSr or if is isn't a good deal please let others know.

Thanks! Aldi's will offer basic GPS units from time to time, ofter when they are selling camping gear in their "promo" aisle. They've usually had yellow etrex in the past. The foretrex are nice, my dentist has one for running.

MJ uses the Fortrex at times. The compass responds very qiuickly. It runs on 2 aaa batteries and can be downloaded with 500 waypoints.

So, which would be more of a "geek watch" a LED with a calculator or a Garmin Foretrex? Smile

actually, I think the wrist sundial would accomplish this.

I think that crystalsound in Southern Ohio uses a Foretrex exclusively. He gets around pretty well, so I don't think I'd advise against it.

Yeah, Crystal Sound has the 101, it is downloadable. My hubby, Wafflesdad, has the 201. It does a little more, has a rechargeable internal battery that lasts about all day. It was $130 last Christmas. Both seem to get you where you are going.
